Amiya is about 5'4 in height, and of slender build. She usually dresses in clothes that are very comfortable and often derived from her Indian ancestors. Amiya was raised in India and as part of her attempting to blend in (and out of habit) she tends to wear a jewel on her forehead which is custom for Indian girls. She also has the normal scars from runes past, as well as actual runes that most shadowhunters have.

Amiya is one of those people who can stay calm even in the middle of a major crisis. She rarely ever lets people see beyond the calm and friendly side of her. People usually look to her when they need comfort because she is always there to give it. She's also quite level headed and the perfect mediator.
Its said that she is wise beyond her years, and that she is an old soul. She tends to take everything to heart but refuses to let others see this about her. She's caring, loyal, understanding, smart, and not above poking fun at her twin brother. Her friends would probably describe her as the mother hen because she often takes the role of the nuturer.
Amiya maybe be strong when it comes to emotional strength, but not so much when it comes to physical. She's not a very good fighter and often takes the role of putting the runes on her fellow fighters. She hates this about herself and often tries to talk her brother into training her how to become better with weapons.

history;
Amiya's parents were appointed the head of the institute in India before Amiya and Anton were born. Amiya was raised as any shadowhunter should be. Her family life was very good and she is very close to her twin brother. Amiya was never good when it came to weapons, but she seemed to excel when it came to runes.. being able to memorize all of them that they were taught.
When word came that most of the shadowhunters had to return to Alicante to prepare for battle, Amiya's parents didn't hesitate to go. Amiya and her brother were raised to honor the laws and to take pride in their heritage. When both of Amiya's parents were killed in battle, Amiya took pride in the fact that her parents gave their life to protect others, thus making them heros.
Anton and Amiya returned to India after the death of their parents, but the Institute no longer felt like home. When word reached them that there may be trouble once more, Anton and Amiya were more than happy to move to New York and aid their comrads.

Penelope really enjoyed dancing with Alice and the others. She hadn't danced like that in a while. When the song ended and everyone started talking about Truth or Dare, Penelope thought it sounded like fun. She was only mildly worried about what dares the group would come up with. The truths were no worries for her, because she had a habit of telling the truth no matter what.. especially when she was drinking a butter beer. She wasn't drunk like alot of the people at the party, but she was more relaxed.

She heard October's question and leaned in to hear the answer, but when October told Erin one second and went to get Will and Jared, Penelope thought that she best go to see if Kain wished to play as well.. as well as Andie, Dakota, Erik, and Luna.

"Excuse me for a minute too," She said to the others with a wry smile. She first rushed over to where Kain was sitting with Will and Jared.

She leaned down slightly and took Kain's hand, "We've decided to play a game of truth or dare, come play with us?" She asked, giving her best attempt at a sad puppy dog face, hoping that this relaxed and happy Kain would be relaxed enough to play a quick game.

Instead of letting go of his hand, or leading him back to the group that had gathered, she pulled him along to where Dakota, Luna, Erik, and Andie was sitting.

"Hey guys, we're going to play a game of truth or dare over there," she pointed to her friends with her free hand. "Would you like to join us?" She asked smiling.
